Tivoli World - The Show and Amusement Park of the Costa del Sol. Bioparc Zoo The spectacular Bioparc Zoo is set amidst tropical forests of Madagascan Equatorial Africa and south-east Asia designed to replicate the natural habitat of each and everyone of the animal species living there. This is the most modern Zoo in Spain . Large areas have been created in which water and vegetation are plentiful – rivers, gigantic trees, waterfalls, bamboo-shrouded temples, hanging bridges and abandoned mines. Most people that have visited the Zoo have returned to enjoy the experience again. It is a beautiful Zoo, and a pleasure to walk round and see the animals so well kept and happy in there natural settings. Aqualand Water Park Torremolinos If you are going to visit a water park this is the one to go to! It is a good day out for all the family and has large grass area with plenty of shade and umbrellas. The rides at this park are far superior to Parquet Aquatico in Mijas. Prices per adult 19.50 euros and children 14 euros. It is advisable to take a cool box with a picnic and drinks as the park can be quite costly. Directions: Exit Main Gates and turn left. Continue down to A7. Head towards Malaga. When you join the three lane carriage way, you will need to take the Torremolinos turn off which is roughly three exits away.. Turn right at the top of the slip road and follow road down. Selwo Safari Park Just of the A7, close to Estepona lies one of the world’s most unique nature parks, the park is based on the African safari park idea and houses 2000 animals in semi-wild conditions. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are ample places to eat and drink. Some of the park is accessed by all-terrain vehicles, be prepared for a good walk and it is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The journey begins in the botanical gardens, you will see a wide variety of plants, some of which are quite rare. One of the most unusual walks is through bird canyon, the bird fly freely as though in the wild. The safari trucks take you on two routes, where you will have the pleasure of seeing the bears, lions and tigers among many other animals. Wolf Sanctuary The Lobo Park (Wolf Park) is located near to Antequera, an unspoilt nature and wildlife park in the heart of Andalusia. You will find four large enclosures and observe European wolves, Timber wolves, the rare white Alaska-Tundra wolves (polar wolves) and Iberian Wolves. The 40-hectare protected and untouched nature park has innumerable rare plant and animal species. Unlike other parks you find socialised but not domesticated wolves that live in a semi-natural environment. The guided tour (Spanish and English) will lead you through and explain everything you need to know to have a better understanding of these precious animals. They organise a wide range of activities including various formats of clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, jeep safaris, air rifle shooting, mountain biking and even archery. Sierra Nevada Just a mere 2 hour easy and beautiful drive away from Mijas golf is the most southern ski resort in Europe,” the Sierra Nevada” boasting mainland Spain’s highest mountains at 3200 mts, Great skiing for beginners and intermediates and easily accessible for one day’s skiing but recommended for a short stay of 2 to 3 days as the resort is just above the stunning city of Granada with the world famous Alambra Palace [ the most visited site in Spain ] . With its many tapas bars and old Arabic quarter, it makes it an ideal base to explore the city and the sierra Nevada, although there are many reasonable priced hotels in and close to the ski village itself. We are a ski family ourselves and often go just for one days skiing as it is so well organized [ parking, lift passes etc ] that you can leave home at 9am be on the slopes at 11 am finish at 5.30 pm an apre ski drink for an hour and then be home for 8.30 pm, never any queue’s during the week but can get busy at weekends. |
